80s Rocks Fashion Show Rocks Club Element

Last night the 80’s Rocks Fashion show hit the fashionably chic Lower East Side to rock Club Element with funky, fresh and new designers along with an all-star lineup of performances by the likes of: Cheri Denis, Lil Mama and Carlos from Making the Band. Rising stars like Erika David definitely did there share in giving the crowd a taste of what to expect in the near future as rising r&b stars.

Before the show Tai Chunn, CEO of MVC Productions promised “a night you’ll never forget” and delivered just that. With fashion showings from a diverse cast of designers such as Celebutante, Catou, 360 Swagga, and Cezar this was definitely a night to remember.

Some of the highlights came from Lil Mama aka the Voice of the Young People as she flexed her lyrical prowess acapella, Cheri Denis performed with energy - even with a wardrobe malfunction - and rising star Erika David represented very well for the independent artists out there. From the fashion perspective the Catou andCelebutantefashion lines were particularly impressive out of the entire show. Guest appearances by canadian model and runway coach Stacey Mckenzie, Retro Kidz, and the teen president Teyana Taylor, who also graced the stage, added to the already succesful event.

This show was special not only because of what was accomplished in showcasing some smaller independent designers and artist, but because of the larger picture of fundraising that came out of it for research on Cerebral Aneurysm. Fashion and music do have a conscience and will continue to use its ability to help others continuously in the near future through functions like the 80’s Rocks Fashion Show.

Worn Again
Words June Medrano

This info is for those who wanna keep it green, but fresh at the same time. I've been known to get caught up in it. I started with these sneakers called "Worn Again." Every sneaker they create are 99% recycled. I got these sneakers on a super sale, and I love them. Real conversation piece! People have even asked me to take my sneakers off my feet so they can really inspect them.

Usually, I don't like giving away my sources, but I will give you this one cause I looking for the smaller brands to take over.

Cheeba - "Sweet Cheeba"
Words June Medrano

Cheeba is the pseudonym of the brooklyn based designer who has been making a name for himself by selling quality clothing with unique designs. One of his Tees, for example, displays an image of Jesus along with the scripted words, "Fuck You, Praise Me." Eye catching designs like these, all under the brand label "Sweet Cheeba" have been making those in the industry bat their eyes at the locally distributed designer. Cheeba took out time to talk about what's he's been up to and how he got to be there.

Plateau: So for those who don't know about "Sweet Cheeba"  the brand tell us a little about it?

Cheeba: It's really just... Well I can't really sum it up because it's more of a lifestyle and we basically promote people doing what they love. Doing what they fell is possible/impossible. Just having that view of living your life and doing whatever you like because you only have a short TV show on this earth.
